I am BEYOND tired right now. Let's just say this whole last week has been INSANE. It started off with my beloved doggie, Spice, being hit by a car (don't worry, its a miracle, and she's ok now, more on that later). Hence, the blogger hiatus.
A few weeks ago, I mentioned making a heart piñata for my sister's birthday to smash to pieces. It was SO fun and cheap and easy to do, so I thought I'd share how:
Here's what you need:
*A heart-shaped ballon. I went to dollar tree to get it. Heck yes.
* Make sure you have flour, water, and a little elmer's glue.
* Newspaper
*Scissors
*Medium-sized container to mix ingredients, and another container to set it on.
( please note NCIS in the background :))
1.Cut newspaper into strips.
2.Mix about 2 cups water and enough flour to make into an Elmer's glue-like paste.
(Add just about 2 TBS of elmer's glue for stickiness.)
3.Dip strips into paste
4. Run fingers down strip to get off excess.
5.Place on top of balloon and use fingers to smooth out.
6.Cover entire balloon with moistened strips.
7.Set on top of emtpy container to dry so it won't stick to any surfaces.
Also, after it dried for a few hours, I hung it up to dry completely, then I spray painted it outside. Then, you stick a pin in the bottom and pop the ballon once its dry and pull it out the bottom. This leaves room to stuff candy, paper, goodies, etc. Then you can just tape the bottom shut.
Over this week I have come to learn and/or remember that...
LipSmackers Chapstick....you are my love. Seriously. And 25 cents at Wal Mart? Yes please. AND you come in Dr. Pepper?! Be still my soul! Looks good and tastes good too;)
Kelly Clarkson's "Sober" is good for the soul. Yeah, I said it.
If it is raining outside, it is NOT a good idea to wear boots that arent water proof. And it's an even BETTER idea not to step in huge puddles in them. This will result in wet socks and cold feet and almost slipping and falling when you walk on a store's linolium floor. I don't care how cute they are, next time, just say no.
A little tidbit you might not know about me....I am working on becoming a Photographer. I LOVE photos, and capturing memories and moments. And, I LOVE looking at photos too. I am such a sap, I love looking through wedding and engagement photos. I am friends with a couple of other photographers around the states on Facebook and in honor of Valentine's Day I am going to share with you some VERY awesome images that I have found from these incredible photographers.
These are from Elizabeth Taylor Frandsen Photography. She captures AMAZING images. Can we talk about how amazingly she captured these and how stinking beautiful the bride's dress and hair are? STUNNING!!
I would TOTALLY recommend checking her work out, you can find her website and blog here:
And these come from my favorite photographer...Aria Vance Bethards. I am seriously in love with her work. She has SUCH style! It's top notch. Take a look:
I would absolutely LOVE for her to do my engagements and wedding someday!!
I am obsessed with movies. Love them. And chick flicks? LOVE them. I'm such a girl, and it's ok. I think guys secretly like them too (at least the good ones)...they just have to act all manly and say they don't. So...guys and girls alike, my first flick to introduce to you on Movie Monday is
There are like 10 movies that my sisters and I constantly quote, and this is definitely on the list. We may even break out the Josie dancing every now and then.
Seriously, I thought every one and their mother saw this movie, but to my horror I just found out that one of my best friends, who I have been best friends with since I was 16, had never seen this movie! I know, I know, I feel like I betrayed our friendship by not ever showing it to her...but don't worry we fixed that as soon as I found out and she was introduced to the world of Michael Vartan and Drew Barrymore in this hilariously cute and sweet movie.
And if you have never seen it, I recommend you do too, STAT!
You know what is really annoying? An oil-prone T Zone area. Yes, this is not very easy or happy for me to admit, but I, Miss Kenzie, have this problem. And its not really fun. So, if not for my own benefit, but for the benefit of others around me not to get glares from the shine of my face out in the sunlight (k, its not all that bad and I am probably just self-conscious, but it can totally feel like it) I like to try different products to help me with this annoyance. And, since I am not a movie star, I work on a budget, and I try to find great products you can get at a better price.
Like remember one of my very best new friends, Revelon Color Burst Lip Butter? Less than $7 for soft, prettiful, colorful lips that are oh so nice? Heck yes, please!
Meet my other bud, Avon MagiX Face Perfector. We're tight. Not a day goes by that we don't see each other. It's awesome.
This past Thursday my little sister Hannah turned 21....ah! Wow, I am still in shock, where does the time go?! The poor thing has had like 4 awful birthdays in a row, including getting deathly sick ON her birthday every year! So this year, we were determined to make it AWESOME! And awesome it was.
Has anyone seen the movie Valentine's Day? Not the scary one that has some serial killer in it (I saw that on TV a while ago, and remembered it when I looked up this picture...haha). But this one:
WAY cute movie, with like 50 gazillion stars in it. But in the movie Jessica Biel throws an anti-valentine's party anf Jennifer Garner smashes a heart-shaped piñata to pieces after getting her heart broken.
Hannah always wanted to do this, and after having two really crappy boyfriends this past year, we figured this was the perfect time!
and we had a group of our girlfriends get together and after much eating and laughing and sucking at bowling, we took pieces of paper and wrote down the names of boys who had done us wrong, then made letters to them getting out our frustrations and put them
along with some insulting caricatures of the said boys and candy in the piñata,
and proceeded to smash the little bugger to pieces
and then danced on the ashes.
It was flipping UH-MAZING!! I totally recommend this, even if you havent had your heart broken...this is like stinking therapy yo! We even taped it up and did it all over again. Girl time, is the best time.
And you want to know what was hilariously ironic?? My ex, the reason I wanted to obliterate this heart, helped me shop for the spray paint to paint the piñata with... and it gets better... the color he picked out? Stone. That's right, the color was called "stone." How fitting, considering I always said he has a heart of stone. PAHAHAHA!
Man, don't you just love those times when there's nothing to do but to just say to yourself
"Dude, that was SO awkward"
or
"I am never doing THAT again"
sometimes the occasional
"Wow, I feel stupid"
and then there's
"Haha, I am so lame"
So on this "Things I've Learned by Thursday" I'm gonna share two such experiences I have had with you. Take it from me, you do not want to learn these lessons for yourself;)
Number 1: I do NOT recommend going to a gas station unshowered, pigtails, in your baggiest pair of sweats with no makeup and rationalize it with "Oh well, I am paying with a card at the pump, I won't see anyone." Something might go wrong at the pump, like an error message saying "See Cashier". Insert minor panic attack and "Uh oh, guess I'm gonna have to see someone after all," *glance inside* "WHY oh WHY does it have to be a cute guy behind the counter?! Where's the little old ladies when you need them??!" All of the above phrases were muttered to myself as I walked in, paid inside, hid my un-made up and reddened face, then shuffled on outta there.
Please note, jiggling the nozzle around quickly and pushing random buttons on the screen out of panic does not make the error message go away.
Number 2. Blasting the Backstreet Boys "Quit Playin' Games With My Heart" and singing at the top of your lungs with the windows rolled up in the car does NOT mean that people can't see you, especially when you are stopped at a stoplight. Your windows are not tinted. Be prepared for awkward stares and raised eyebrows. I don't care how much you relate to this song, next time, just wait till it turns green.
Also, it would be helpful not to dance and use your fist as a microphone. That probably didn't help with those weird looks.
So, I got my first car this past fall. And I love him. Way, way much. And because I love him so very much, I had to name him after someone I love very much:) At first, it was just "Kamrada", but then, I gave him a middle and last name. Now it's:
