Adulting

So a little peak into my life latey:

The other night I got out of the shower after 10pm and had an intense craving for frozen yogurt. So I went. Just threw on some sweats, put a headband in my wet hair, and went.

I have developed a keen awkwardness around males. I used to be a very smooth flirt in front of the fellas. But I am here to tell you there is nothing smooth about gasping, spilling your drink, and tripping when you see a shirtless guy at work (yes this happened).

Speaking of tripping, and guys...this happened again the other day. I was walking out of my job and didn't clear a gate when I was stepping over it. This resulted in me falling and knocking over every other section of the gate in a quite impressive domino fashion. And bonus! It was in front of a guy I have a very school-girl-like crush on.

I literally hid my phone for an entire day to avoid real life.  I wanted to continue this, and still would be, but I realized I pay for that dang thing. Bills suck yo.

I stayed up till 3 for the past couple of weeks laughing my butt off at Urkel on Family Matters all alone in my room like a crazy person. This was regretted every time my alarm went off early the next morning for work, but not changed. I have my priorities.

Speaking of Urkel, my mom surprised me and gave me a Steve Urkel doll she found at an antique store and I squealed almost as loud as I did when my sister and I scored front row One Direction tickets.

And one more "McKenzie is awkward around guys" story. While I was at work recently, I was having a rough day, which prompted a heart-to-heart with the cat of the family I work for. It was all fine and dandy till the guy I work for walked in and caught me talking to it.

And there ya have it, welcome to adulting folks.

Sometimes, it's awkward being awkward

So the past few weeks I have been talking to a pretty cute guy...ok..let's be honest, he's actually pretty smokin'. We've texted quite a lot.
Well, this said guy and myself were in the middle of a texting conversation when I decided it was time to work around the kitchen and pack my lunch for the next day.
I gleefully laid my phone down and went to work, packing, washing, cleaning, and yes, singing a Disney Junior/Doc McStuffins song,"I feel better! So much better! Thank you doc for takin' all the ouchies awayyyyy", loudly.
After a few minutes when I was done with my encore, I heard this faint talking.  Perplexed, I looked down at my phone.  And to my utter horror, it was in the middle of leaving this attractive man a nearly two minute voicemail before it cut me off.
OH MY. Hoping that it was the end of it, and I could move on, pretending it didn't happen, and that he probably didn't hear anything, I started to send him a text to say I was sorry for the mistake-call, when my text tone went off and stopped me. I look, and it is from this fine man. What did it say?

"Ps I am glad you are feeling 'so much better'."

Yup, that was awkward.

The Hot German Life Guard Who Gave Me Sun Poisoning

I just got back from my first vacation in 5 years!!! (9 if you don't count that "vacation" driving across the country 5 people to a 5 passenger car in the middle of the summer in 2007)
I had SUCH a good week!! I feel so refreshed,  that is, when I am not moving...
because every move I make hurts...
and this is why:

(right-me, left-my sis. pardon the immodesty, it hurts to wear anything but tank tops and even that is pushing it)

Yeah, painful. Real painful. And this picture doesn't even begin to do it justice, haha. I am seriously red. I look like  I am wearing a white bathing suit top over a red jumpsuit.
 Hot, I know ;)
I ended my awesome vacation getting incredibly sick with sun poisoning...i.e. chills, hot flashes, nausea, aches, etc. Not fun.
So the moral of the story is: WEAR SUN SCREEN YO! Especially if you are fair skinned, and NO MATTER how distracted you are by the hot, blonde, German life guard watching you at the pool.

Yeah, that was awkward

So, you wanna know what's awkward?

Running into your very first ex after not seeing each other for EIGHT YEARS.

Running into said ex the one day you decided not to wash your hair.

Running into this ex, for the first time in 8 years, in your sweats and unwashed hair, while him and his girlfriend are lingerie shopping.

Pshyeah. That was awkward.
